Education: I hold a master of business administration and finance from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, Arizona, as well as a bachelor of arts with an economics major from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Background/Experience: Prior to joining the USB staff, I served as communications director at the Animal Agriculture Alliance for nearly six years. My experience also includes serving as editor of Feed Management magazine, a leading trade magazine for the feed industry, and in an international marketing/communications role with Diamond V Mills, a leading feed ingredient supplier. Combined, I have just short of a decade of nutrition experience, over a decade of program management experience and nearly six years of issues management experience. I have also been a partner in my family’s farm in northern Illinois which raises corn and soybeans for over 20 years.

How will you be of most help to producers in your area of expertise?
USB has significant programs targeted at coalition building to support animal agriculture. My years of experience in issues management, combined with a long list of contacts from across agriculture, will allow me to further advance these programs in very meaningful ways.  

What are your new responsibilities?
I will manage United Soybean Board (USB) programs related to consumption of soybean meal in animal feed, which in 2008 comprised about 98 percent of the volume of soybeans used in the U.S.

What excites you most about working in your new role?
For me this position is an exciting change. This position will fully draw on my nearly nine years of nutrition, nearly 12 years of program management and nearly six years of issues management experience. I look forward to vigorously advancing the exciting programs at USB that help our nation feed itself and much of the world.  PD
