The Northeast Iowa Community College has decided to postpone the artificial insemination class to be taught jointly by Dr. Alex Souza and Dr. Humberta Rivera, reproduction specialists with Accelerated Genetics of Baraboo, Wisconsin, and Dr. Chris Harvey, NICC ag faculty. The three-day hands-on class was originally set for next week (June 1 through June 3) and is now being planned for August.

Accelerated Genetics will bring an endoscope so that students can actually see the cervix of the animal as they learn the art of A.I. The A.I. school will cover all aspects of bovine reproduction, from anatomy and hormones to heat detection. The students will receive actual insemination practice utilizing cattle from the Dairy Center and neighboring farms.

For more information contact Mary Steen at (800) 728-2256 ext. 341.
