World Ag Expo is excited to announce the renewal of its partnership with Lallemand Animal Nutrition North America for the second year. Lallemand will sponsor the contest awards and prizes for World Ag Expo’s Forage Challenge, presented by Mycogen Seeds. The challenge is open to farmers and ranchers from 11 western states to enter the bounty of their labor to see who produces the highest-quality forages in the West. Up to $18,000 in awards and prizes will be dispersed to the winners in three categories; alfalfa hay, standard corn silage and brown mid-rib (BMR) corn silage. Entries will be judged on forage lab analyses, along with a visual evaluation of the entries by experts in dairy nutrition and forage production. “Lallemand Animal Nutrition is delighted to continue its sponsorship of the forage challenge. A core business focus for us is helping producers to get the maximum performance possible from their forages, both from the use of our Biotal forage inoculants and our Levucell SC live yeast.” said Dr. Bob Charley, forage products manager, Lallemand Animal Nutrition. “The forage challenge represents an ideal opportunity to raise awareness on forage and silage quality, key factors in overall profitability.” The 2011 World Ag Expo Forage Challenge is open to alfalfa hay and corn silage grown and harvested during 2010. Those judged to be the highest quality will be on display at the 2011 World Ag Expo, Feb. 8-11, along with educational displays and seminars where growers can learn more about forage production. Cost to enter the 2011 World Ag Expo Forage Challenge is $25 per entry. All forage samples must be submitted to UC Davis for judging by Dec. 10, 2010.
