El Lechero Elements - If the shoe fits...

You want to quit your job?
Why do you want to quit? Money? You are not comfortable with your job? You do not get along well with your boss? Is there someone you do not like? Your family is not close to your work site? Or, maybe you will say that you do not want to work on a dairy in the future.

Whatever your reasons are, start to think about how you are going to tell your boss that you no longer want to work for him. Never lie, give the main reason you want to quit because many times, there is a solution to that reason.

el_english_badgeDo not make a hasty decision based on something simple. Remember that a majority of the problems have solutions, but you cannot get help if you don’t say anything.

Firing an employee?
Why are you firing that employee? Is that person lazy? Does that person not get along with co-workers? Is he always late to work? Does he spend all his time complaining about everything? Does he drink too much alcohol? However, a question for you is: Have you talked to that employee about the reasons you are considering firing him?

In the many years that I have worked on dairies, I have seen that the majority of reasons behind firing employees have solutions, and most importantly many times those solutions have surprising results. Every situation is different, every employee is different. I assure you though, that if you speak honestly with one another about the problem, you will find a solution. People understand each other by talking with one another.

Which job is the most important on the dairy?
What happens when you are in charge of an employee, give him a list with seven different tasks to complete and tell him to start with the most important ones? 1. Milk 2. Feed the herd 3. Help a cow calve 4. Clean 5. Give orders to other employees. 6. Take your break 7. Push the feed up closer to the cows. Which one of these is the most important to you? For me, all of these are important, but what’s first is first. It is very simple. We need to always use our common sense.

It is impossible to do all the tasks at the same time, especially if there is only one worker. The point I am trying to make is this: The work that every one of you does is very important; no job is less important than another.

Let’s think, if the person who cleans fails to do his job, the inspector will close down the dairy. Many employees may say that their job is the most important, but this is not true. Each task we perform on the dairy is No. 1. What is most important is that we complete each job to the best of our abilities because many people depend on the work we do. It is all of our responsibility to perform the tasks we are assigned. It is very easy to complete a task when it is done honestly.

Many people depend on your job like your co-worker, friend, boss and most importantly, your family. Let’s do our jobs the right way.  EL
