The National Mastitis Council is celebrating 50 years of dedication to reducing mastitis and enhancing milk quality at its 50th Annual Meeting. Dairy producers, veterinarians, university researchers and extension specialists, milk plant field staff, dairy supply and pharmaceutical representatives, government officials, and students are invited to attend the event Jan. 23-26, 2011, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia.

The Annual Meeting is a four-day forum for dairy professionals from around the world to exchange information about practical, on-farm aspects of udder health, mastitis control, milking management and milk quality.

A symposium on Jan. 23 will feature a discussion on consumer perceptions – what we know, where are we headed, and how do we meet future consumer demands.

The general session will highlight NMCs key work in achieving milk quality, udder health, and milking management, as well as advances in technology, genetics and immunology.

Several limited-enrollment short courses will be offered to attendees. They include:
• Dairy stockmanship and animal well-being
• Reducing somatic cell counts
• Heifer mastitis and coagulase-negative staph: What have we learned recently
• Milking the web: How to use social media in your profession and beyond
• Mycoplasma mastitis: What is new and what is old
• The art of observation for problem solving: On-farm workshop
• Troubleshooting milkability and cleaning issues on farms

Registration and additional information soon will be available at www.nmconline.org
