The Jerome Cheese Company, a division of Davisco Foods International, announced plans to add mozzarella cheese to its product line. The Idaho company already produces 520,000 pounds of cheddar cheese. Pizza — and increased marketing from companies like Pizza Hut and Papa John's Pizza — is driving the demand for mozzarella cheese. The addition of mozarella cheese will also create jobs. The company will expand from its current staff of 250 and hire 20 new full-time employees. The long-term goal is to dobule the amount of milk processed at the plant, and this expansion could create as many as 175 more jobs, says Davisco COO Jon Davis.
