The Northeast District, which was responsible for building the giant snowman at last year’s Junior Convention, invites Pennsylvania Junior Holstein members to enjoy “Endless Possibilities” 2011. This fun-filled convention will be held Feb. 4-6, 2011 at the Hilton Scranton Hotel & Conference Center, Scranton, Pennsylvania.

In addition to general events and committee meetings, a variety of activities are planned for this year’s convention. Starting out on Friday, take in a game of soccer or basketball with fellow juniors at Riverfront Sports, which also includes a small arcade room. After Friday night’s buffet meal, juniors can light up the evening by participating in karaoke and taking part in the talent show. Saturday is traditionally set aside for the dairy bowl competition, however juniors not participating in the day’s events or for those finishing early are invited to tour The Lands at Hillside Farms, Taurus Service Inc., or both if schedules allow.

The Lands at Hillside Farms, Shavertown, Pennsylvania, was formed in June 2005 after being purchased from the Conyngham Family, farming under the Hillside name since 1881. Now operated as a non-profit organization, The Lands at Hillside is a regional education center and historic farm estate covering 412 acres.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Taurus Service Inc. is headquartered in Mehoopany, Pennsylvania. The company is a strong and growing, independent A.I. organization distributing frozen semen across the globe. Taurus’ superior lineup of bulls, for all major dairy breeds, rank among the best sires in the world.

Saturday afternoon and evening, enjoy the dairy bowl finals and the Saturday night Junior All-Pennsylvania recognition dinner. Finally, bring your loaded iPods for the Saturday evening dance as juniors from across the state network while having fun.

Sunday morning concludes the convention weekend with the Awards Breakfast to recognize the many outstanding members and their accomplishments over the past year.

For questions, contact the Pennsylvania Holstein Association, (814) 234-0364, or co-chairs Charlie and Kim Clark, (570) 965-2519. More information and registration forms will be available on the Pennsylvania Holstein Association website as it becomes available.  PD
