A multi-location herdsman short course has been developed by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service dairy specialists and associates. This year, the herdsman short course will focus on dairy workers involved with handling and taking care of dairy animals with emphasis on workers involved directly with postpartum cows. This training will consist of a one-day event; the morning section will be classroom instruction and the afternoon laboratories (practical instruction). Lectures will be presented in Spanish and English. Each participant will receive a notebook containing copies of each lecture and the slide presentations. Additional supplementary materials will also be included in these notebooks to assist participants in training other workers when they return to their respective dairies. Laboratories will consist of participation in practical class work involving specific material/specimens needed for each topic addressed. Course comprehension will be assessed using a multiple-choice evaluation method at the conclusion of the course. Registration for the short course is free. The pre-registration deadline is three days prior to each training. The following is a list of the dates and locations of the short course series.
