Our third annual Flavor Faceoff was a great success. Twenty participants from across the country, each representing a different flavor of ice cream, vied for readers’ votes during June Dairy Month and July Ice Cream Month. More than 1,300 votes were cast during the eight weeks of competition.
In the end, Dale Moore with Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe’s Huckleberry reigned supreme.
Moore received a poster featuring images of Washington State University students and facilities, including the dairy barns, the veterinary school and behind-the-scenes images at Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe. ARTICLE: Congratulations to the 2012 Flavor Faceoff Champion Dale Moore, who represented Ferdinand's Ice Cream Shoppe's Huckleberry ice cream.
Ferdinand's is a staple of Washington State University in Pullman, and Moore says the best way to enjoy Huckleberry is in a "Grabber," which features a large scoop of ice cream sandwiches between two oatmeal cookies.
Moore, an extension veterinarian at WSU, first beat out three other participants to become the Northwest Regional Winner during June Dairy Month.
She then went on to conquer the campaign efforts of three other finalists: Susan Vander Schaaf with Sunnyside Farms' Moose Tracks, Casey Hushon with Sassy Cow Creamery's Birthday Cake and Carl Chaney with Chaney's Dairy Barn Wow Now Brownie Cow.
