041812_pdpwlogoPDPW is offering training opportunities for Hispanic employees in August. This year, PDPW is offering the Obstetrics and Farm Safety Hispanic program as well as the Milker Training & Farm Safety Hispanic program.

A completion certificate will be given to those completing these training programs Employers will also receive an additional certificate and workshop training material for the employee's file.

All programs will be presented exclusively in Spanish. Registration is at 9:45 a.m., with programs starting promptly at 10:00 a.m. Programs conclude at 3:30 p.m. Lunch will also be provided.  See additional details below.

FDA clarifies use of the term 'non-lactating dairy cattle' PDF Print E-mail

032112_fdalogo_1The FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) has become aware that the term “non-lactating dairy cattle” may be confusing and that producers and employees could mistakenly interpret it to mean that drugs approved for use in non-lactating dairy cattle are safe when used in dry dairy cows, i.e., in cows between two lactations.

The term “non-lactating dairy cattle” includes replacement dairy heifers, replacement dairy bulls and dairy calves, according to current animal industry standards and a long-standing FDA practice. These classes of dairy cattle have not yet, or would never produce, milk for human consumption.
