New 30’ and 34’ triple-head mergers

Oxbo is setting a new standard in wide-merging performance with the introduction of its latest 30’ and 34’ models. Advanced design triple heads form a continuous pickup using rubber-mounted tines spaced just two inches apart and positioned to the full width of the heads with little gap between the heads. This provides for true 30’ or 34’ merging width and exceptional pickup efficiency, even in light crops. For convenience and safety, these mergers uniquely fold to a narrow transport width of just 10 feet with excellent rear visibility.

The new merger design continues to improve windrow quality which allows harvesters to operate at a steady speed across the field. From the pickup headers, the crop has a smooth transition to the conveyor where it can be conveyed in either direction, or in split directions.

New blower and feeder
Kuhn North America, Inc., of Brodhead, Wisconsin, introduces two new Primor bale processor, blower and feeder models. These machines are an excellent choice for utilizing 4’ wide round and square bales for bedding, feeding or mulching.

This product provides even bedding discharge at distances up to 60’ and can also feed hay or haylage from bales directly into a feed area. The standard distribution chute adjusts up and down for accurate material placement while an optional swivel discharge allows precise control with distribution to both sides of the tractor.

USDA approves shot for cows aimed at E. coli
A Minnesota company has won federal approval to become the first in the U.S. to market an E. coli vaccine for cattle, a new weapon against a food-borne disease that can cause serious illness and even death in people.

Epitopix LLC was given a conditional license from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to sell its vaccine.

Benefit from constant feed availability with less labor
It’s well known that frequent feeding results in an increased feed intake and higher milk production. In addition, frequent feeding has a positive effect on the cow’s health. However, labor is often a limiting factor in trying to provide cows with fresh feed 24 hours per day.

With the introduction of the Lely Juno feed pusher, producers have the ultimate solution. Based on the proven technique of the Lely Discovery mobile barn cleaner, the Lely Juno drives automatically over the feed alley by following the feedbunk. It pushes the feed towards the fence as often as required without disturbing the cows. This product is an easy to install, stand-alone machine which requires no additional facilities or modifications to your barn. This makes it suitable for almost all types of farms.

Efficient large ceiling ventilation fans
Envira-North Systems Limited unveiled a new line of high volume low speed (HVLS) fans. The anxiously anticipated new Altra-Air fan incorporates WhalePower’s revolutionary Tubercle Technology. “Our Altra-Air ceiling fans can move more air than ever before and can do it using 20 percent less electricity,” said Envira-North President, Dan Lambert.

The ‘tubercle effect’ is an example of biomimicry – advanced engineering inspired by the bumps on the leading edge of Humpback whale flippers, which has evolved through a million years of field tests.

The new Altra-Air Fan will deviate from traditional HVLS fans by featuring a five-bladed design with the Tubercle Technology. These fans qualify for a number of different energy efficient incentives for both new builds and retrofits, which can reduce the cost of the fan by over 70 percent.

The best start for your calves
When a calf drinks from its mother, it usually drinks adequate portions spread over the day. However, in today’s dairy industry when a calf is fed manually, this is restricted to once or twice a day. This is why Lely has introduced the Lely Calm automatic calf feeder. It supplies the correct portion and concentration of feed more frequently and spread over the day, resembling the natural behavior of the calf. This calf feeder offers the calves an outstanding start, while providing labor savings and other economic benefits. The dosing of small and precise portions spread over the day substantially enhances the development of the digestive organs of the calf. Feeding and monitoring 60 calves takes only 20 minutes per day with this feeder.
