College students are cordially invited to participate in the 2010-2011 College Aggies Online scholarship competition, hosted by the Animal Agriculture Alliance and the American National CattleWomen, Inc.

College Aggies Online is designed to help you connect with other young agriculture advocates from across the country. Now, more than ever before, it is crucial that farmers and ranchers educate consumers about how their food is produced. CAO will help you use social media tools such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to share agriculture’s story. From time to time, it will provide special challenges to help you learn how to share your story with the public.

Beginning on Sept. 1, you can earn points for each agriculture-related blog, photo and video that you post to the forum and for participating in online outreach activities. Check out the point chart to learn the value of each activity. On April 1, 2011, the final point counts will be tallied and the high-scoring club will receive a $750 scholarship, national recognition, and a trip for one representative to Washington, D.C. to attend the Alliance’s annual Stakeholders Summit for agriculture leaders. (The runner-up club and the two top-scoring individuals will also receive scholarships, too.)

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few suggestions:
• Customize your personal profile and share a little bit about why you are passionate about agriculture at http://aggiesonline.ning.com
• Participate in a discussion.
• Upload a few photos of your farm.
• Invite other members of your school club or organization to get involved.
• Create an official CAO group for your club.
