New Zealand-based genetics company Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC) has chosen FarmWizard as its international livestock management system to be marketed worldwide.

LIC and FarmWizard initially focused on tailoring the system to meet UK pasture-based dairy farm needs with New Zealand-style breeding worth and in-breeding prevention functionality being introduced. More recently the product has been deployed on a number of large-scale, pasture-based dairy herds in the U.S.

“We were impressed with FarmWizard’s product roadmap and how closely it aligned with our own vision for web centric livestock information management,” said LIC’s CEO Mark Dewdney.

“We believe that there is huge potential in the American market for the LIC FarmWizard as more U.S. dairy farmers adopt the grass-based approach to dairy farming, reflecting a growing consumer demand for more naturally produced milk,” said LIC’s U.S. General Manager Phil Wicks.

Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC) is one of the largest integrated herd improvement organizations in the world. A dairy farmer-owned cooperative, LIC has been providing services to farmers since 1909. Its services range from herd testing and milk analysis, to artificial breeding, animal health, farm advisory, herd recording, DNA analysis, farm automation and farm mapping systems.
