The Big Ass Fan Company was named as one of the winners of the 2010 We CARE Awards for its dedication and commitment to the Lexington, Kentucky, community. This prestigious award recognizes local businesses that encourage employees to become involved as volunteers in their communities.

“We are honored that Big Ass Fans has been recognized as one of the 2010 We CARE Award recipients,” said Carey Smith, president of Big Ass Fans. “We value our employees and strive to create the best environment for them to meet not only their professional goals but their personal goals. It is a pleasure to work with a group of people that value giving back to the community as an integral part of their lives.”

Every year Big Ass Fans employees donate more than $25,000 to deserving organizations and more than 200 employee volunteer hours as part of their philanthropic efforts. Some local beneficiaries include Habitat for Humanity, Humane Society, Red Cross Blood Drives, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Firefighter Toy Program and many others.

Republic Bank launched the first We CARE Awards in 2006 as a way to give recognition and appreciation to local companies whose employees are doing great things for the community. The award was created to publicly congratulate companies who stress the four elements contained in the CARE name itself – Community Activity Recognition Enterprise. More than 50 nominations were accepted from companies who met the We CARE criteria, and were judged on how they encourage employees to become involved in volunteer activities either during or after work hours.
