USDA and the Department of Justice heard from the Dairy Policy Action Coalition (DPAC) last Friday, June 25 during the joint workshop on dairy markets at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Former Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Dennis Wolff, who is now a partner with Versant Strategies and serves as government relations consultant for DPAC, was invited to participate in the panel discussing marketplace transparency.

Northeast Iowa Community College is excited to offer an artificial insemination class taught jointly by Dr. Alex Souza and Dr. Humberta Rivera, reproduction specialists with Accelerated Genetics of Baraboo, Wisconsin, and Dr. Chris Harvey, NICC ag faculty. The three-day hands-on class will be presented in English or Spanish as needed.

A veterinarian…an agricultural engineer…a biochemist. These are just some of the careers mapped out by the winners of the 2010 Agricultural Education Scholarship. Foremost Farms USA has awarded 10 scholarships to the children of dairy producer member-owners. Five graduating high school seniors and five college students have each been awarded $2,000 scholarships to put toward their educations. The scholarships are funded by the Foremost Farms USA Charitable Foundation. The winners are highlighted below.

Michele Payn-Knoper, a professional ag speaker who founded the #agchat community on Twitter, and Kathy Swift, a dairy veterinarian from Florida on the Board of Directors, discussed the goals of the foundation with Web Editor Emily Caldwell.
