Joe Gillespie, DVM, was honored as the 2010 Dairy Quality Center’s Veterinarian of the Year at the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and Academy of Veterinary Consultants joint meeting. Merial, a world-leading animal health company, Duluth, and the Dairy Quality Center (DQC) co-sponsor this annual award, designed to recognize veterinarians who help dairy producers implement quality management practices within their operation.
“We are proud to support this award as part of our continued commitment to supporting the veterinarians who have a positive impact on the dairy industry,” said Tom Van Dyke, DVM, Merial’s manager of veterinary services. “We applaud Dr. Gillespie’s long-standing support and education of Nebraska dairy operations, as well as his dedication to strengthening production practices in an effort to produce the highest quality milk possible.”
Keith Carlson, executive director, DQC, said Gillespie was selected for the award because of his dedication to the quality assurance process. Joe C. Gillespie received both his bachelor’s degree and doctorate of veterinary medicine from Texas A&M University.
Following graduation, Gillespie began his veterinary career in a mixed animal practice in McCook, Nebraska. In 2000, Gillespie started Gillespie Veterinary Service, PC, where he has spent the past 10 years focusing exclusively on production practices, specifically targeting reproduction, milk quality and employee training.
