What previous positions have you held?

  • Genex/CRI area program consultant
  • Milky Way Dairy herd health manager

Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
Many people have had impact, but two people stand out, Arie DeJong and Stef Booijink. They have placed their trust in me and have allowed me to learn and increase my knowledge, basically giving me carte blanche for the past 13 years to develop the best fresh cow program we could bring to the dairy.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
The volume of fresh cow, transition and herd health management I have been able to acquire while using the company’s products at the center of our most successful programs allows me to present our products with the knowledge of how to make results happen.

Why did you choose this company?
I am a big advocate of alternative choices when dealing with livestock. Van Beek Natural Science develops and sells natural supplements, which I have used exclusively and have been advocating to others for years. This family-run business has the high values and qualities I sought out to work with.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
I would like to increase awareness with dairy as well as beef producers that alternatives to antibiotics are available with exceptional results and give them a better understanding of feed supplement use to maximize health of transition and fresh cows.  PD
