Lynn Reed Pampa, Texas Regional Manager TechMix, Inc.

Please describe your agricultural background.
I have experience in dealing with large commercial beef and dairy operations, animal health and nutrition companies, feed and pre-mix companies as well as independent veterinary and nutrition consultants. I have worked with commercial ranches, backgrounders, stocker producers, feedyards, dairies, and calf ranches over the past 23 years. So, I feel I have a well rounded knowledge of the beef and dairy industries and really enjoy working with producers and being able to bring innovative products and solutions to help them in their daily operations. Over the years, I have been involved in commercial production, manufacturing, sales, marketing as well as management. I have been really fortunate to have been involved in so many facets of this industry.

What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I graduated from Texas Tech University with a major in Animal Science and minor in Business Administration.

What are your new responsibilities?
My primary role is obviously to grow sales of TechMix products. However, in order to do so, I have to create value to our distribution network, veterinarians, nutritionists, and ultimately to the producers we serve. What excites you most about working in your new role?
I am excited to work for such a customer focused organization from the top management to the employees in our manufacturing plants. Over the past two months, I have experienced really positive feedback from our customers about how well they like our company and how well our products work. It is a great feeling to talk to producers and they tell you how well our products perform in their operations. A lot of companies talk about being customer focused; however, few companies truly put the customers first. At TechMix, the customer needs are our main objective. It is great to be working for a company that truly puts the customer in front of all other objectives.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
I am a good listener. I have found in sales, if we listen, we can learn a lot from our customers who are producing meat or milk and try to help them make decisions that address whatever challenges they may be having at that time. I have been on the production side as well, so I understand the challenges that producers face and realize that I might not always have a product or solution to help them. However, hopefully, I can be a resource and be able to give them some ideas or get them in contact with someone who can help them with what ever situation they are trying to resolve.

What’s your best story from the first day on the job?
Well, I had planned to take five to six days off prior to starting in my new role. My wife was excited, but after one day, I was already working on different projects. On the third day I was supposed to be off, my wife told me to call my boss and tell him I wanted to start the next day. I asked her why, she said, “well, you have been working on various projects for free, so you might as well be getting paid for doing the work.” I laughed, called my boss and went to work the next day.

Why did you choose this company?
Well, I was looking for a company that had similar goals to mine. From the first interview, we just seemed to hit things off and the relationship started from day one and continued to get better through the interview process. We had similar strategies about distribution partners, customers, and how to grow the business both short and long term. It didn’t take long; I knew I had found a company that was the right company for me.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
Well, I have many goals. But, my main goal is to add value to the customers we serve by providing products and solutions to improve profitability. If I can consistently add value to our customers and prospective customers, the business will continue to grow and I will be doing my job. Another goal is to be the number one supplier of Timed Event Nutrition products that consistently perform as expected. PD
