Below is a sampling of new products – from nutrition to herd health – that will be launched at World Dairy Expo.

Micronutrients’ IntelliBond Dairy
IntelliBond Dairy, new from Micronutrients , aims to improve cow health and productivity. The company’s patent-pending manufacturing process locks a guaranteed level of zinc, manganese and copper within each 250-micron particle.

It contains IntelliBond Z, M and C as its only source of zinc, manganese and copper supplementation, providing producers with an opportunity to improve their respective trace-mineral programs.

New Transition Calf TMR
QLF’S Transition Calf TMR products complement home-raised feeds.

Feeding animals the product typically at a 1.5-pound to 2.5-pound per day feeding rate, according to the company, helps create heifers that are prepared to utilize the forages and feeds of the next growth phase.

The product disperses easily in a TMR and reduces sorting, ensuring that each heifer receives the proper doses of supplemental sugar, protein, minerals, vitamins and ionophore.

Rumen-protected niacin
Using advanced rumen-protection technology, Anevis rumen-protected niacin from QualiTech Inc. (EH 2915) delivers more niacin to the small intestine of the cow – nearly eight times the amount delivered to the bloodstream compared to raw niacin.

Produced with patented technology, it contains raw niacin mixed with a complex lipid matrix. The rumen-protection technology protects the enclosed niacin from the rumen microflora, while increasing the particles’ specific gravity, allowing rapid transit through the rumen.

Semex for healthy cattle
Using patented technology, Semex (EH 2608-2709, TM Walk of Fame), is now able to measure an animal’s immune response and their ability to combat infection and disease.

Immune response is highly heritable at 25 percent, the company says, making genetic gain much easier. Its Immunity+ sires give dairymen the opportunity to breed healthy cattle that are naturally disease resistant.

The product, according to the company, can incrementally reduce disease incidence in herds.

Ultimate dip from Ecolab
Ecolab (Booth EH 2717-18) says it has a solution if you want fast, broad-spectrum germicidal activity before and after milking: Ultimate T.D. and T.S.

Both promote udder health and hygiene and are effective against infectious mastitis organisms and environmental types, such as E. coli.

Their detergency provides thorough prepping and contains no iodine or quaternary ammonium compounds. The ready-to-use formula can be applied to teats as a dip, spray or foam.

EfferCept SG teat dip
EfferCept SG (EH 6001) kills more than 15 pathogens, including 99.9 percent of E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus agalactiae, the pathogens most often related to mastitis.

The new effervescent tablets are aloe-enriched to condition, soothe and protect cows’ udders and teats. The tablets dissolve in water and remain stable for up to 10 days.

Udder Tech offers variety
Udder Tech (AR 501-503) has several new products this year, including the waterproof phone holster that features a clear vinyl window to read your phone and reply to texts without taking it out.

Available in black, blue or pink, the holster is made from lightweight, waterproof nylon.

The company’s waterproof milking sleeve with thumbhole is designed to protect shoulders and arms. An elastic strap behind the neck connects the shoulders, keeping the sleeves in place.

The unique thumbhole design extends around your thumb to anchor the sleeve in your glove, which prevents water, teat dip and debris from reaching the skin. Available in small, regular and extra large.

Waterproof chaps made with lightweight, durable waterproof nylon fabric keep you dry in front while the back remains open to stay cool.

They feature easy-on and easy-off buckles on the back, allowing you to put the chaps on quickly without taking your boots off; great for pulling calves, hoof trimming and other messy jobs. Available in blue and black and in one size with an inseam of 34 inches.

Transition calcium bolus
A new nutritional supplement for transition dairy cows is the transition calcium bolus from MAI Animal Health (EH 2605, IL 367).

It’s a high-concentration, fast-dissolving supplement with three sources of calcium that aid in the prevention of milk fever (hypocalcaemia) in high-risk dairy cows.

The product utilizes patented bolus technology to deliver more available calcium and is safe to administer, easy for cows to swallow and is more palatable than drenches or pastes.

Recover lost data with Dart Safe
Computers aren’t failsafe, but with the new Dart Safe feature, users can recover data up to the last daily backup.

It provides disaster planning for producers who want to ensure their herd data is safe and available should something unplanned happen and adds data-handling pros to the producer’s team.

Users have the ability to access these updated downloads so recommendations can be made using the most current data available. PD
