Progressive Dairyman asked several companies exhibiting at World Ag Expo to highlight a few of the new products that will be on display.

UV milk filter
This filter has been used in large dairies in Europe and Russia for more than 10 years. Now, after spending nearly a year laying the groundwork, UV MILK USA, LLC (Booth 6705 – Gera Ltd.) is introducing the filter to the U.S. market.

The company says that the product removes 98 percent of foreign particles. It improves milk grade, keeping acid levels normal and reducing SCC levels. Milk solids are unchanged by the filtration process.

The filter is now available for purchase. UV MILK USA is in the process of setting up dealerships throughout the U.S. to

Gehl V400 vertical lift skid loader
Gehl (Booths DS134, RD4 – Manitou Americas) says that its new, vertical lift V400 skid loader is the largest skid loader in the world to the agricultural market.

The V400’s lift path follows a vertical line as opposed to an ‘s’-shaped path offered by competitive vertical-lift models. It lifts up to 144 inches with a rated operating capacity of 4,000 pounds.

Single-cycle CIP cleaner
AN-FO Pacifica (Booth 6336) is introducing a new single-cycle CIP cleaner named AN-FO ONE. Like other single-cycle cleaners, it combines the detergent and acid phases of the wash cycle, thereby cutting down on the amount of water, energy and chemicals used.

The product is purported to be highly effective in removing fat, mineral, protein and teat sealant buildup. At this time, AN-FO ONE is primarily available on the West Coast.

Margin calculator

After several years of research and development, Rice Dairy (Booth 6506) is introducing the Rice Dairy Margin Calculator (RDMC) to help producers make informed risk management decisions.

The calculator provides a comprehensive review of a farm’s operating costs, feed costs and revenues. It is meant to be customized for the individual dairies that use it.

The RDMC will assist operations primarily by tracking and analyzing milk and feed hedges – both on and off the Chicago exchange – while helping producers to analyze the current market for other hedge opportunities and to analyze profit potential at the current market prices, considering previously hedged prices and/or possible future prices.

In addition to the calculator itself, Rice Dairy provides set-up and ongoing updates to RDMC, weekly and monthly research reports and consulting services.

New teat spray robot TSR

DeLaval (Booths 6725-30, DS93-96) has unveiled its teat spray robot TSR – a spin-off solution from the company’s automatic milking rotary introduced in 2010. The TSR offers an automatic post-spray solution designed to facilitate high-capacity milking in rotary parlors while helping to maintain farm profitability.

The company says that teat dip consumption and coverage are consistently managed with the TSR. Consumption per cow depends on the product, its viscosity and chosen spray pattern, but the system’s accuracy and uniformity will help keep conditions optimal for good udder health.

The TSR is a stand-alone unit designed for external milking rotaries. The cows are sprayed right after take-off – the robot’s speed and precision allows it to serve up to 400 cows per hour. PD
