Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health welcomes back Vista vaccines
Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health is reintroducing to the United States market the Vista ® vaccine line, which provides dairy veterinarians and producers with the most complete protection available against the most common and costly bovine respiratory and reproductive diseases.

Vista vaccines protect dairy cattle against Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR), Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVD Type 1 and Type 2), Parainfluenza 3 (PI 3 ), Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV), leptospirosis, vibriosis, Mannheimia haemolytica and Pasteurella multocida .

The Vista line of vaccines was introduced to the market in 2005 with more research supporting its safety and efficacy than any other cattle vaccine at the time. A stop sale was issued on the vaccine in 2009 due to a variability issue with the BRSV antigen. Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to resolve the issue and is pleased to welcome back this cattle vaccine to its portfolio and the market with even more research that confirms its superior respiratory and reproductive disease protection.

Alpharma launches new Bovatec delivery system for pasture cattle
Alpharma Animal Health recently introduced a convenient way to provide ionophore supplementation to pasture cattle. The product, called Bovatec 2.2, is a 44-pound block and contains 2.2 grams per pound of Bovatec (lasalocid). In replacement dairy heifers developed on pasture, supplementation with an ionophore can increase growth rates, allowing heifers to cycle, calve and reach full reproductive potential earlier.

This product is recommended to be placed near watering or resting areas for best intake. The block form of this product is compact and easy to handle, and allows managers to monitor consumption patterns in the field. Also, the salt content in the product encourages intake. The convenience of the block saves time and labor.
