This month’s VAS DC305 tip is a module that estimates the value of each cow in the herd relative to an average fresh heifer.

In addition to estimating the value of the cow, the module also calculates the current value of a pregnancy for each adult. This can be a very helpful tool for herd managers to decide if an open animal should be inseminated. By inputting your own parameters, you can customize it to your dairy and use it as a tool to make management decisions.
