Bosscher Dairy in McBain, Michigan, earned the top spot in Northstar Cooperative’s Performance Summary report, achieving an average somatic cell count of 55,000.

Owner Mike Booscher and herd manager Joe Kulhawick have built a team of dedicated employees who all play a role in such a feat. The team also credits clean bedding, genetic selection and low-stress handling. The herd averages 85 pounds of milk per cow per day, and the dairy has decided not to milk three times a day at this time.
