What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I graduated from Lynden Christian High School in 2011 and from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science and a minor in agribusiness economics. Additionally, I was the reproductive services intern for All West/Select Sires in 2014.

Please describe your agricultural background.
I got my start in the dairy industry on a local farm feeding calves and raising heifers, gradually earning more responsibilities. I was involved with FFA through high school, earning state and national awards for dairy products evaluation, farm business management, agricultural mechanics and dairy cattle evaluation.

I have also earned the Washington State Farmer and American Farmer degree through FFA. In college, I was very active in clubs and cooperatives around campus, including Washington State University’s Dairy Club, Block and Bridle Club, Cooperative University Dairy Students, as well as working at the Ensminger Beef Cattle Center. I was also on the Washington State University platinum team at the North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge in 2015.

What territory will you cover?
Currently my territory is northwestern Washington.

What are your new responsibilities?
In my role I will be able to sell the company’s semen as well as animal health products. Additionally, I will assist dairymen in recognizing and utilizing the services offered by the company.

What previous positions have you held?
I have worked as the heifer manager for TJ Veen Acre Farm; ranch hand for the Ensminger Beef Cattle Center; sire selection, reproduction, milk quality, and calves, heifers and dry cows chair for the Cooperative University Dairy Students; and reproductive services intern for All West/Select Sires.

Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
Ken Haak, sales representative for All West/Select Sires in Whatcom County, Washington, has been a tremendous mentor for me, including assisting me in obtaining my internship with the company and encouraging me to pursue a career in this industry.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
I will be able to assist dairymen in incorporating the latest genetics, technology and animal health products the company has to offer, to increase their profitability and help them achieve their goals by using knowledge gained in the classroom and in the field.

Why did you choose this company?
All West has a great family atmosphere throughout the company. We have a tremendous support team not just within All West, but also from Select Sires to back up the great genetics and products we offer.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
I’d like to assist farmers in reaching their genetic goals, allowing them to maximize their profit. PD
