Former president of NMPF passes away at 75

James P. “Tom” Camerlo, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on December 3, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on March 4, 1934, in Florence, Colorado, Tom’s life demonstrated a deep commitment to his family, his community and the dairy industry.

Tom provided years of expertise and leadership to the dairy industry in the arenas of dairy trade, farm policy, cooperative marketing and dairy product promotion. He owned and operated Camerlo Dairy since 1963.

Tom served as chairman of the board for Dairy Farmers of America and U.S. Dairy Export Council; he also served on the boards of Dairy Management Inc., Western Dairy Association and Nationwide Insurance. Tom received several presidential appointments to the Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee for Trade. He was also the former president of National Milk Producers Federation in Washington, D.C. PD
